Marcus Taylor

Bio Note:
The World Progressive Show is a weekly guided tour around the backstreets of progressive music that pulls together interesting and unique tunes from the four corners of the world. Covering a blend of prog-rock, jazz fusion and world sounds, the show is hosted by Marcus Taylor, a musician and educator from Kingston, Ontario. As a guitarist and composer, he is the creative force behind the prog-rock band Broken Parachute and the world-fusion band Kashgar.
His interest in music started early and was driven by an instinctive love of the blues and a passion for the latin rock of Carlos Santana. Later on these interests expanded into jazz and world music, in no small measure due to his encounter with the Mahavishnu Orchestra. In his professional life, he is a professor at Queen’s University who works on questions of climate change, agriculture and rural development in India and elsewhere.
